Formal
Garden
7
days to complete.
The formal garden design was created with the intent of enlarging
the space in this powder room. This was achieved by painting open-aired
windows. You're now looking through the wall rather than at a
flat surface. To give the mural depth it is important to have
several layers and for the objects to diminish in size as well
as fade in color as they go further back. Notice that the flowers
up close are much more detailed and rich in color than those which
are further away, the same goes for the trees. By placing objects
in the foreground, like the vases of flowers, it gives the viewer
something to look beyond, therefore creating a much stronger feeling
of distance between the vases and the items behind them. The pre-existing
tile was continued right up onto the wall with the use of trompe
l' oeil, to create the look of a stone block wall. Now when you
enter this powder room, it feels as though you've entered into
an outdoor garden terrace.
