Book Nook

The client's request for this mural was to add shelves full of colorful books into this reading corner. Since they didn't have the space for real book shelves, trompe l'oeil shelves were the perfect solution. This was also a great way to personalize their space by giving each book a title related in some way to the couple's interests and hobbies. This room took 8 days to complete.

: In order to fool the viewer into believing that the book shelf is truly there, it is important to give the wall some depth. This is accomplished by continuing the leopard carpeting up onto the wall. If this is not done, the shelf will appear to be floating. By using this technique, the shelves will look grounded and more believable to the viewer.

The books are first blocked in with solid colors.
